CaixaBank Volunteering is launching the latest edition of ‘Social Month’, a charitable initiative that brings together employees, family members, friends and customers with the aim of making volunteering accessible to the whole of society and continuing to build on the social impact of previous editions. This fourth edition takes on special significance as it is being held in 2026, declared by the UN as the ‘International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development’. This context reinforces the momentum of charitable actions to move towards a fairer and more inclusive society.
Throughout May and the first few days of June, the organisation will promote, in collaboration with local social organisations, hundreds of initiatives across all autonomous communities aimed at vulnerable groups. This collaboration allows for tailored activities to be designed, maximising the impact of each initiative.
‘Social Month’ activities cover areas such as support services, financial education, digitalisation, the environment, culture and sport, and are designed to address the specific needs of each region.
This high degree of internal engagement cements CaixaBank’s position as a leader in corporate volunteering. In 2025, more than 19,000 employees took part in charitable initiatives, representing 45% of the workforce – well above the industry average. According to the Voluntare 2025 Report, which involved 236 organisations from Europe and Latin America and in which CaixaBank collaborated, 77% of companies mobilise more than 10% of their workforce in volunteering initiatives, and only 45% exceed 20%, highlighting the high level of social commitment among CaixaBank’s workforce. Furthermore, the study highlights that there is a direct correlation between volunteering and the promotion of leadership within organisations, as engagement in charitable initiatives helps to improve the professional skills of employees and executives by exposing them to real-life situations of vulnerability.
Following the success of the 2025 ‘Social Month’, which mobilised more than 18,200 volunteers and reached over 151,000 people in vulnerable situations, CaixaBank Volunteering has set itself the goal of continuing to grow and improve its contribution to society.
The ‘Social Month’, organised with the collaboration of the “la Caixa” Foundation and CaixaBank Group employees, is open to the general public. Citizens can sign up for the activities according to their preferences and availability via the Volunteering CaixaBank website.

Volunteering activities in every region, for all ages
'Social Month' by CaixaBank Volunteering is once again rolling out a wide-ranging programme of far-reaching initiatives across the country, in line with its strategic priorities: Financial Education, Digitalisation, Career Development, Support and the Environment.
Among the organised events, one highlight is the Senior Citizens’ Olympics in Tomelloso, Ciudad Real, which will bring together around 800 participants for a day focused on active ageing, physical activity and socialising.
Commitment to the environment will be another key focus. In Valencia, around 600 volunteers will take part in a day of cleaning and restoring dune areas on Pinedo beach alongside Asociación Xaloc, contributing to the conservation of the natural environment. In Gran Canaria, more than 500 volunteers will join a major simultaneous event across the archipelago, organised in partnership with Fundación Canaria Foresta, which is dedicated to understanding, protecting and caring for the environment, with activities such as guided walks and litter picking.
In Seville, in the field of personal development and inclusive leisure, around 100 participants will enjoy a day of canoeing and kayaking on the River Guadalquivir alongside children in vulnerable situations from Fundación Balia, promoting healthy habits and teamwork. Meanwhile, in Catalonia, around 140 people, including volunteers and participants, will take part in adapted sports activities alongside the Associació Esclat, aimed at people living with cerebral palsy.
The support programme will also feature initiatives such as an organised walk in Madrid’s Retiro Park, in which some 60 people, including volunteers and participants from Fundación Juan XXIII, will take part, creating spaces for social interaction, well-being and mutual support. These initiatives are complemented by other activities linked to financial education and digitalisation, which reinforce the programme’s social impact and its contribution to individuals’ holistic development.
CaixaBank Volunteering
CaixaBank Volunteering is one of the largest volunteering initiatives in Spain, and its aim is to bring the practice of solidarity actions to all citizens in the International Year of Volunteers. With more than 20 years of experience, the association is made up of employees and former employees of the CaixaBank Group and the "la Caixa" Foundation, as well as friends, family members, CaixaBank customers and anyone else who wants to take part in solidarity activities.
Thanks to the joint work with about 2,500 social entities and the involvement of nearly 24,000 volunteers, the CaixaBank Volunteering programme helps more than 755,000 vulnerable individuals throughout Spain, through activities related to the likes of education, digitalisation, accompaniment of vulnerable people and the environment.
Fostering corporate volunteering is one of CaixaBank's lines of action. For the bank, this is a way of helping to respond to the challenges faced by society, while simultaneously offering services and solutions for social entities and people at risk of vulnerability through its financial activity.
