The Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), together with the ”la Caixa” Foundation and CaixaBank, is calling for participation in this initiative, which begins on Tuesday 9 June and aims to ensure proper nutrition for families who rely on food banks. Since 2020, the campaign has raised over €13 million across the country and collected more than 12,500 tonnes of essential food items.

In 2025, in Spain, around 10 million people (19.5% of the Spanish population) were at risk of poverty, meaning they had an income of less than €12,220 per year, directly affecting their ability to meet their basic needs, including access to balanced nutrition. This is according to The Poverty Watch Report 2025: Preliminary Results (in Spanish), published by the European Anti-Poverty Network in Spain (EAPN-ES).

Although the at-risk-of-poverty-rate remains virtually unchanged from the previous year (down by 0.2%), it is still far from the targets set out in the 2030 Agenda.

Against this backdrop, the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL) has warned of the precarious situation faced by many families, a reality that is not immediately apparent. These families rely on food banks to have access to a balanced diet while meeting other household expenses, such as electricity and water bills or costs related to their children’s education, because they are forced to choose between these different needs.

To help reverse this situation, the ”la Caixa” Foundation and CaixaBank are launching the seventh edition of “No Home Without Food”, the solidarity campaign in support of Food Banks, with the aim of encouraging collective action and helping to curb the chronic nature of food poverty in Spain. This year’s edition kicks off with the ”la Caixa” Foundation’s contribution of €1 million, as it has done in previous campaigns.

In 2025, the "No home without food" campaign raised around €2.1 million, an amount equivalent to 1,395 tonnes of staple food items, which were distributed throughout Spain through FESBAL-associated Food Banks and their nearly 6,000 collaborating social organisations.

In the six editions held between 2020 and 2025, the campaign has raised more than €13 million nationwide and has exceeded 12,500 tonnes of staple food.

"Behind the figures on poverty and social exclusion are millions of people and families facing real difficulties in meeting a need as basic as food. Many of them are still forced to make very difficult decisions just to make ends meet, even sacrificing essential aspects of their well-being. Faced with this reality, Food Banks play an essential role in ensuring a decent diet for those who need it most. Thanks to campaigns such as 'No home without food', we can continue to reach thousands of households across Spain. We would therefore like to call on the solidarity of our fellow citizens, businesses and institutions, because every contribution, however small, translates into tangible help and can make a real difference in the lives of many people," said FESBAL President Pedro Llorca.

“In Spain, 12.6 million people are at risk of poverty and social exclusion, and one in three children grows up in environments marked by a lack of resources and opportunities. At the ”la Caixa” Foundation, we work to break the cycle of poverty through programmes that drive transformation, but it is essential to complement this support with access to basic resources such as food. That is why, once again, we are promoting the ‘No Home Without Food’ campaign with a contribution of one million euros and, together with CaixaBank and FESBAL, we encourage citizens and businesses to join this initiative once again to help tackle this situation through one of the most significant campaigns nationwide,” said the Deputy Director General of the ”la Caixa” Foundation, Marc Simón.

“Food poverty means that thousands of people in our country struggle to meet their essential needs. ‘No Home Without Food’ highlights the difficult decisions many families face every day, reminding us that poverty often means not being able to choose. In this context, at CaixaBank we work with the ”la Caixa” Foundation and FESBAL to offer different donation channels (Bizum, digital banking, website and branches), so that anyone—whether a customer or not—can contribute easily, quickly and locally, and join a cause that turns solidarity into food,” said CaixaBank’s Director of Social Action, Josep Parareda.

This initiative has become one of the most significant at the national level. Thanks to this campaign, Food Banks, in collaboration with various social organisations, obtain resources aimed at supporting people in vulnerable situations.

The role of volunteers, essential

In addition, these Food Banks have around 3,320 volunteers across the country who prepare, organise and help distribute food so that people in vulnerable situations can have a decent diet, as Cristina Branchadell, a volunteer at the Banc dels Aliments de Catalunya, explains: "As a volunteer, you realise that this help, which may seem insignificant, enables many families to build a life for themselves and achieve their goals".

Another volunteer, Montserrat Rivero, adds that all contributions are important, "but cash donations are a good option because they allow the Food Banks to buy the items that complete a well-rounded food basket, so we can always provide the most balanced option possible".

The seventh edition of the "No home without food" charity campaign begins this Tuesday, 9 June. Those wishing to contribute can make donations via the website www.ningunhogarsinalimentos.org , as well as via Bizum to the number 38014. Donations can also be made by people who are not CaixaBank customers via the bank’s digital banking platform, as well as through website www.caixabank.es . The funds raised will be distributed across all Spanish provinces through the 53 Food Banks associated with FESBAL.

Full details of the campaign and the various ways to contribute can be found here (in Spanish).
