CaixaBank Volunteers has mobilised more than 19,500 volunteers and benefited more than 155,000 people in vulnerable situations during ‘Social Month’, a fourth edition with record participation figures that has provided volunteering opportunities to the financial institution’s employees, family members, friends and customers.
During May and the first few days of June, 7% more volunteers took part in this charitable initiative than in the previous edition, consolidating CaixaBank Volunteers as one of the largest corporate volunteering schemes nationwide. This coincides, in 2026, with the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development, a commemoration promoted by the United Nations to recognise the contribution of volunteering to building more inclusive, resilient and sustainable societies.
‘Social Month’, open to all members of the public, has enabled more than 4,600 charitable activities to be organised across all regions thanks to the collaboration of over 1,400 local social organisations, whose experience and knowledge of the needs of each region are essential to maximising the impact of each initiative.
The results achieved reflect the growing commitment to solidarity among employees, family members, customers and citizens who take part in the initiatives promoted by CaixaBank Volunteers, in collaboration with the “la Caixa” Foundation and employees of the CaixaBank Group.

Solidarity drive across the country
Solidarity and support for people in vulnerable situations once again mobilised hundreds of participants during this year’s event. In Barcelona, nearly 700 volunteers joined forces with the Sant Joan de Déu social care organisation for the Magic Line, a charity walk that brought together more than 500 beneficiaries and raised funds for projects aimed at improving care for people in vulnerable situations.
Support for children also played a prominent role during ‘Social Month’. In Granada, more than 30 volunteers worked alongside the ALFA association on an afternoon of leisure and socialising, enabling 200 children supported by various social organisations to enjoy the city fair’s activities in a fun and safe environment. Similarly, in Leganés, around 50 volunteers took part in a day of improvements and refurbishment of the facilities at the Ciudad Escuela Muchachos (CEMU), which benefited 300 children in the care of the Community of Madrid.
The inclusion of people with disabilities was another key focus of this year’s event. In Toledo, 200 volunteers took part in a sign language training course run by the organisation APANDAPT to improve care and communication with people with hearing impairments. The activity helped participants gain a better understanding of the experiences of this group and provided tools for more accessible and inclusive care. Similarly, in Cartagena, 25 volunteers collaborated with the organisation Autismo Somos Todos (AMUDEF) on a charity walk that brought together 200 beneficiaries and helped to promote social awareness, social inclusion and the participation of people with autism spectrum disorder and their families.
Support for older people also had a significant role to play during ‘Social Month’. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, CaixaBank volunteers collaborated with ICOT Grupo Sanitario on a day of dancing and socialising that benefited 100 older people. The participants helped with transport, support and facilitating the activity, helping to create a space for connection, participation and well-being through music.
CaixaBank Volunteering
CaixaBank Volunteering is one of the largest volunteering initiatives in Spain, and its aim is to bring the practice of solidarity actions to all citizens in the International Year of Volunteers. With more than 20 years of experience, the association is made up of employees and former employees of the CaixaBank Group and the "la Caixa" Foundation, as well as friends, family members, CaixaBank customers and anyone else who wants to take part in solidarity activities.
Thanks to the joint work with about 2,500 social entities and the involvement of nearly 24,000 volunteers, the CaixaBank Volunteering programme helps more than 755,000 vulnerable individuals throughout Spain, through activities related to the likes of education, digitalisation, accompaniment of vulnerable people and the environment.
Promoting corporate volunteering is one of CaixaBank’s key priorities. For the bank, this is a way of helping to address the challenges facing society, while offering services and solutions to social organisations and people at risk of vulnerability through its financial activities.
