CaixaBank, named the Most Innovative Bank in Western Europe by Global Finance magazine for the second consecutive year

• The US magazine acknowledges the bank for its innovation in products and services. Smart Money and the mobile applications BrokerNow and AgroBank, among the featured projects.
• Innovation is a priority in CaixaBank's 2019-2021 Strategic Plan and is exhibited not only in the field of new products and services, but also in the digitalisation of internal processes and its commitment to new agile and collaborative methodologies.
• These awards come in addition to those of Best Bank in Spain 2019 and Best Bank in Western Europe 2019 by Global Finance; Bank of the Year in Spain 2018 by The Banker; and Best Digital Bank in Western Europe in 2018 by Euromoney, among others.

CaixaBank has been named the Most Innovative Bank in Western Europe by the US magazine Global Finance for the second consecutive year. The Innovators awards, in their seventh edition this year, acknowledge the banks that regularly identify new paths and design new tools in finance.

In the process for selecting the award winners this year, the jury – comprised of the magazine's editorial board – received the input of reporters specialised in banking innovation. Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial director of Global Finance, states that “the financial institutions winning Global Finance’s The Innovators 2019 excel in breaking down silos to unleash creative thinking. Best of all, they have shown how to channel creativity into valuable products and solutions”. 

Innovation is a priority in CaixaBank's 2019-2021 Strategic Plan, which seeks to put technology at the service of customers and employees. Innovation in CaixaBank is developed not only in the field of new products and services, but also in the digitalisation of internal processes and its commitment to new agile and collaborative methodologies. CaixaBank is Spain's leader in digital banking, with the biggest digital customer base in the country: 6.1 million, 5.4 million of whom are also mobile banking customers.

In The Innovators 2019 awards, Global Finance has featured three projects out of those submitted by CaixaBank: the Smart Money service and mobile applications BrokerNow and AgroBank.

Smart Money is a fully-digital discretionary portfolio management service that allows any of the bank's customers to manage their investments from the bank's platform. Through Smart Money, customers can see a summary of their financial position and the changes in their portfolio on any web and app-based device.

Similarly, the mobile application BrokerNow gives the bank's customers access to the entire details on their investments, also offering an overall view of prices of the main national and international markets through cutting-edge and interactive charts. The application also features a news section where customers can keep up-to-date on all the day's news, with minute-by-minute updates.

Lastly, the AgroBank mobile application offers a technology solution for a customised service adapted to suit companies in the agro-food sector, such as farmers, stockbreeders and members of cooperatives. The application allows users to keep up-to-date on news on the sector, access the prices of the agricultural markets, obtain the schedule of related events and trade fairs, and manage their personal area.

The awards ceremony for The Innovators 2019 will be held in Hong Kong in October.

Global Finance is a monthly magazine founded in 1987, with headquarters in New York. It distributes 50,050 copies (audited by BPA) and has readers in 188 countries.

International acknowledgement of CaixaBank

These awards follow on from an intense year of acknowledgement of CaixaBank. In 2019, Global Finance recognised the bank with the award of Best Bank in Spain for the fifth consecutive year and Best Bank in Western Europe for the first time. CaixaBank was named Bank of the Year in Spain 2018, by The Banker magazine.

In the area of digital innovation, CaixaBank received many awards in 2018, such as the Western Europe’s Best Digital Bank 2018 by Euromoney; the Best Private Bank in Europe for use of technology, by the magazine Professional Wealth Management, from the Financial Times group; and the award for the mobile application CaixaBankNow as the Best Technology Project in the ”Mobile“ category of The Banker's Tech Projects Awards, among others.
