Payments with installments when checking out with Apple Pay

  • The bank introduces service that allows ‘MyCard’ and CaixaBank credit card customers to pay with installments when checking out with Apple Pay online and in-app on iPhone and iPad

CaixaBank customers with a MyCard card or eligible Visa or Mastercard credit cards can now choose to split up payments for online and in-app purchases when checking out with Apple Pay, providing a convenient and secure way to pay for a purchase over time.

To use the feature, customers will first need to add their CaixaBank card to Apple Wallet if not already added.

When checking out with Apple Pay online or in-app using iPhone and iPad, users will be able to select their eligible credit card, and then tap Pay Later to view their available installment plans. Users can then select the installment plan of their choice ranging from 2 to 12 months, depending on their card conditions, and complete the quick and seamless checkout process through Apple Pay.

Apple Pay provides users with a simple, secure, and private way to pay. As with all Apple Pay purchases, when a user pays with a card, Apple does not retain any user information linked to the user.

CaixaBank’s innovative services in Spain

CaixaBank is the first financial entity in Spain to offer the ability to pay with installments when checking out with Apple Pay to its customers, reaffirming its commitment to both innovation and the new consumer trends.

The bank has taken part in projects that are at the cutting edge of payment services on an international scale: it was a pioneer in its commitment to contactless cards, innovated with the creation of the first wearables that could be used to make payments and was the first bank in Spain to commit to NFC mobile payments. Since 2022, the bank has offered ‘Buy Now Pay Later’ options through its mobile app, which customers can select whenever they want — before or after the purchase is completed.

Recently, CaixaBank launched Tap To Pay on iPhone, which enables businesses in Spain to accept in-person payments, without any additional hardware or payment terminals needed.

This vision has reinforced CaixaBank’ s leadership in Spain. Currently the bank serves 20.5 million customers and has the largest network of branches and ATMs in the country, as well as the largest base of customer using digital banking, with 12.4 million people.

In recent months, the bank has been recognised with prestigious awards such as the Best Bank in Europe in Technology awarded by The Banker, the Financial Times Group's banking specialist, and Qorus' European Innovator of the Year award.
