CaixaBank reaffirms its position as the Best Bank in Spain thanks to its commitment to customers

• CaixaBank has been recognised as the Best Bank in Spain, Best Retail Bank in Spain and Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility in Spain at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026
• The British publication has highlighted CaixaBank's responsible banking model, its strength in retail business and its commitment to financial and social inclusion
• The bank has been named Best Bank in Spain for six consecutive years and Best Bank for Individuals in Spain for two consecutive years

CaixaBank has once again established itself as a benchmark in the Spanish banking market by winning three awards that highlight the bank's leadership in the country. 

The leading information provider in the banking sector, Euromoney, has announced the winners of its Awards For Excellence, which have more than 30 years of history and that in this 2026 edition have recognised CaixaBank as the Best Bank in Spain, Best Reail Bank in Spain and Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility in Spain. 

Euromoney's Awards for Excellence recognise financial institutions that set global standards in innovation, operational performance and customer service. These awards, therefore, acknowledge both the strength of CaixaBank's business model and its commitment to individual banking, while not forgetting the creation of social value. 

The awards also underscore CaixaBank's ongoing leadership in Spain, as this is the sixth consecutive year in which the bank has been recognised as the country's Best Bank, and the second year in which it has been named Best Retail Bank. 

Gonzalo Gortázar, CaixaBank's Chief Executive Officer, highlighted that these awards "endorse our customers’ trust, the strength of our banking model and the commitment of all CaixaBank professionals to a responsible and service-oriented bank that is close to people”. 

He also underlined that this distinction "is also a stimulus to continue generating economic and social value in a sustainable way, with the customer always at the centre, and to consolidate CaixaBank as a benchmark bank in Spain". 

A responsible banking model and international leadership 

The jury of Euromoney has put the focus in the combination of financial leadership, commercial capillarity and commitment to the people and the territories, in line with the strategy of universal and socially responsible banking that CaixaBank drives in recent years. 

The award for Best Bank in Spain reinforces CaixaBank's ongoing track record of international recognition, highlighting its ability to offer high-quality service in an environment of intense competition. 

This the same year, the bank was named Best Bank in Spain and Best Bank in Europe by the US-based publication Global Finance, confirming its role as a key player in the European financial system. 

The new edition of the Euromoney Awards For Excellence maintains this trend and underscores the coherence of the results achieved with the 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, which is based on accelerating growth, digital transformation and a commitment to sustainability. 

The award for Best Retail Bank in Spain recognises CaixaBank's focus on the retail business, supported by a profile-segmented offer, an omnichannel customer service model and a wide physical and digital network. The bank has more than twenty million customers, most of whom are in the retail segment, and has developed specific proposals for each relationship. 

The award for Best Bank in Corporate Responsibility in Spain highlights CaixaBank's commitment to sustainability, financial inclusion and social action. Euromoney had already recognised the bank in previous years as Best ESG Bank in Spain, and various international publications have recognised its leadership in sustainable finance and social bonds in Western Europe. 

CaixaBank also consolidates its leadership in Portugal 

In addition to its strong positioning in Spain, CaixaBank has a significant presence in Portugal, where it controls 100% of BPI and has consolidated itself as one of the country's leading banks. 

As a whole group, CaixaBank has assets of over €664,000 million, 20.7 million customers and the largest network of branches and ATMs in the region. This leadership in Portugal has also been recognised by Euromoney, which has awarded BPI an award for Best Bank for Individuals in Portugal. 

In total, the CaixaBank Group has received 4 awards in this edition of the Euromoney awards for banking excellence, thus reinforcing its leadership throughout Spain and Portugal.
