  • CaixaBank’s Chairman joins the Board of Trustees of the Fundación por la Formación Dual CaixaBank (CaixaBank Dual Vocational Training Foundation).
  • Tomás Muniesa will be attending his first meeting with the Foundation’s Board of Trustees on Wednesday.

The Board of Trustees of the Fundación por la Formación Dual CaixaBank (CaixaBank Dual Vocational Training Foundation), known as CaixaBank Dualiza, has appointed Tomás Muniesa as Chairman. He succeeds in this role José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, who had held the position since 2016.

On Wednesday, Muniesa will be attending his first meeting as Chairman of a foundation with nearly a decade of activity, which has benefited more than 47,000 students and close to 6,000 companies and has held around 4,000 activities with educational centers during that period, showcasing CaixaBank’s strong social commitment.

This appointment comes after Tomas Muniesa took on CaixaBank’s chairmanship on the 1st of January 2025, culminating a long career in the entity since he joined in 1976 and where he has performed various responsibilities, providing him with great knowledge of the bank’s operations and culture, such as Human Resources, Capital Markets or ALCO management. Additionally, his performance in the insurance group as executive Vice-chairman and CEO of VidaCaixa from 1997 to November 2018, stands out.

Tomás Muniesa, who holds a degree in Business Administration and a master’s in business administration from ESADE, was appointed Deputy General Manager of VidaCaixa in 1992, and, in 2011, General Manager of the insurance group. He is also member of the ESADE Foundation’s Board of Trustees and Director of Allianz Portugal.

Previously, he was Chairman of MEFF (Exchange for stock options on Spanish underlyings), Vice-chairman of BME (Bolsas y Mercados Españoles), second Vice-chairman of UNESPA, Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros (Insurance Compensation Consortium), Director of Vithas Sanidad, and Alternate Director of the Inbursa Financial Group in Mexico.

With this appointment, the CaixaBank Dualiza Foundation’s Board of Trustees composition is completed under Muniesa’s chairmanship, with Eugenio Solla, CaixaBank’s Chief Sustainability Officer, as Vice-chairman, and with Francisco Belil and Luis García (representing FPEmpresa) as Trustees; Óscar Calderón de la Oya, as Secretary; and Paula San Luis, as General Manager.

CaixaBank Dualiza

CaixaBank Dualiza represents the commitment of the Fundación por la Formación Dual CaixaBank (CaixaBank Dual Vocational Training Foundation) to fostering and disseminating vocational training, as well as the fundamental role that this type of training will play in the future of society.

It is only through more training that we can achieve a more inclusive society with fewer inequalities.

To this end, CaixaBank Dualiza provides support for the demands of teachers and educational centres and works with companies to train future professionals and enhance their employability.

Since its launch, it has benefited close to 47,000 students, 6,000 companies and held activities benefiting 4,000 educational centres.
