  • The MoneyToTravel prepaid card, available to both customers and non-customers of the bank, can be acquired until the 31 of March via the app or the CaixaBank website free of charge for the first three months

CaixaBank has launched a digital campaign to promote the signing up of MoneyToTravel, its prepaid card that allows holders to make payments in other currencies with no fees and includes exclusive benefits for travelling. The campaign, which will last until the 31st of March, offers the MoneyToTravel card free of charge for the first three months.

For those –both customers and non-customers of the bank- that get the card up until the 31st of March, CaixaBank is withdrawing the issuance fee, thus saving the customer the initial charge of 10 euros. In addition, it is exempting the payment of the maintenance fee of 2.95 euros up to the end of July; the pay-per-use fee that is usually charged only in the months in which the holder uses the card. The card, available in both physical and digital format, can be signed up exclusively via digital channels, through the CaixaBank’s app or website.

Exclusive benefits of the MoneyToTravel prepaid card

The MoneyToTravel prepaid formula, which allows for spending only the topped-up amount, is especially useful for travelers seeking value-added solutions while travelling abroad, such as better control of expenses and additional protection against fraud.

The MoneyToTravel card’s main exclusive benefit for travelling is the elimination of fees for payments in other currencies. This makes it an ideal option for those who plan to travel outside of Spain, since it allows for making both physical and online purchases in other currencies with the MasterCard exchange rate and with no additional fees any day of the week, a key feature for who wish to avoid hidden expenses when travelling. In addition, the card provides two free cash withdrawals a month in ATMs outside of Spain.

Apart from the financial benefits, MoneyToTravel includes one 1 GB eSIM that can be used for 7 days, as well as a 10% discount on additional top-ups, as part of a partnership with Roamic. As an additional service, MoneyToTravel also offers access to selected VIP airport lounges for the customer and a companion when the flight is delayed for more than 60 minutes.

The card also includes travel assistance insurance with medical coverage of up to €4,000, or €6,000 for trips to the United States or Canada. This insurance also includes urgent shipment of medications, transfer and repatriation services in the event of serious incidents, and assistance for unforeseen events such as the finding or the shipment of luggage. In the event of delay of the checked-in luggage of more than 6 hours, the customer will have available up to €120 for related expenses. Similarly, it includes coverage of civil liability for property damage or bodily harm of up to €60,000.
