CaixaBank and elBullifoundation presented today in Madrid ‘Plan GENHESIS’. The Business Plan for Gastronomic Restaurants, a work conceived to help professionals in the sector understand, plan, and manage their restaurants with greater business rigor.
The title of the book deliberately incorporates an added “H” as a nod to the hospitality industry, emphasizing that the content is specifically designed for gastronomic restaurants in all their diversity, from small independent establishments to more complex projects.
In a context marked by increasing sector complexity, rising costs, and a high closure rate among establishments, ‘Plan GENHESIS’ was created with a clear objective: to help reduce uncertainty and improve decision-making in gastronomic restaurant projects. This line of work is part of one of elBullifoundation’s core missions: supporting small businesses in the sector by improving business and financial education and training.
The book proposes approaching a restaurant not only as a creative project but also as a company that must be profitable, sustainable, and well-managed. The work applies the Sapiens methodology (https://metodologiasapiens.com/), developed by elBullifoundation. Through a systemic perspective, the book connects all key project decisions, from defining the gastronomic offering, identity, and business model, to economic and financial planning, preparing the opening, and managing the restaurant once in operation.
In addition to the content of the book, ‘Plan GENHESIS’ is complemented by digital material that includes editable templates, checklists, and practical resources designed to facilitate the real-world application of the business plan in the day-to-day running of the restaurant.
The publication is part of the strategic collaboration between elBullifoundation and CaixaBank, which began more than a decade ago with the shared objective of promoting professionalization, training, and applied knowledge in the restaurant sector. Over these years, both organizations have jointly developed training, outreach, and editorial projects aimed at restaurateurs, entrepreneurs, and professionals in the sector. In the past 10 years, CaixaBank and elBullifoundation have promoted more than 500 events aimed at the sector, surpassing 50,000 attendees.
‘Plan GENHESIS’ has been developed by the elBullifoundation team under the direction of Ferran Adrià and curated by a top-level multidisciplinary team that combines expertise in business management, finance, innovation, design, and gastronomy. Among the project curators are Marcel Planellas, Juli Capella, Ernest Laporte, María Moreno, Carlos Bellón, Rita Soler, as well as the Thinknovate team, providing expert and complementary perspectives across key areas of the gastronomic enterprise. This diversity of profiles reinforces the rigorous, cross-disciplinary, and applied nature of the work, aligned with the Sapiens methodological approach.
With this new publication, elBullifoundation and CaixaBank strengthen their commitment to a sector that is key for both the economy and culture, advocating for knowledge, methodology, and understanding as the foundation for improving the viability and future of gastronomic projects.
