CaixaBank Volunteering is mobilising its entire workforce, as well as employees of the CaixaBank Group and the “la Caixa” Foundation, during ‘Social Month’ with the aim of bringing volunteering closer to society through charitable initiatives. The social institution will promote various activities throughout May, in collaboration with local social organisations, across all autonomous communities to support vulnerable groups.
The ‘Social Month’, now in its third edition coinciding with the 20th anniversary of CaixaBank Volunteering, directly impacts the lives of people facing vulnerable situations. Through activities focused on companionship, education, digitalisation, environmental protection, sport, and culture—tailored to the specific needs of each group—volunteers actively contribute to improving the well-being and quality of life of those who need it most.
The initiative places a strong emphasis on people and personalised attention, while also allowing volunteers to gain first-hand experience of social realities in their immediate surroundings that often go unnoticed. This fosters civic awareness and helps build a fairer society.
The ‘Social Month’ also highlights the collaborative spirit of CaixaBank Volunteering. This edition’s activities are organised alongside local social organisations that are well-acquainted with the specific needs across different provinces.
To encourage civic engagement in volunteer activities, those interested can sign up for the activity that best suits their preferences and schedule. Anyone wishing to take part in ‘Social Month’ can register for the activities through the CaixaBank Volunteering website.
Activities across all areas
Providing companionship to elderly people, minors at risk of exclusion, and individuals with disabilities is a key focus of ‘Social Month’. Among the standout activities, CaixaBank volunteers in Valencia will spend an afternoon playing games and sharing stories with the residents of the Hermanitas de los Ancianos Desamparados; while in Burgos, they will organise an inclusive ping-pong session with users from the Puentesaúco Special Education Centre and Burgos’ Parkinson Association.
Recognising the transformative power and personal growth that sport fosters, CaixaBank Volunteering is offering a diverse range of activities in this sector throughout the month. In Zaragoza, volunteers will take part in inclusive football matches alongside the Real Zaragoza Genuine League team, while in Palma, they will join a basketball and dance session with individuals from different vulnerable groups supported by the Fundació Mallorca Integra.
Additionally, with environmental preservation increasingly a priority, CaixaBank Volunteering is focusing its efforts on this area through multiple initiatives. In Madrid, a clean-up day will be organised in Monte de El Pardo, while in Teguise (Las Palmas), volunteers will take part in a waste collection and artistic creation day in La Graciosa, combining creativity with environmental preservation.
In the field of culture and music, one of the most touching events will take place in Santander, where volunteers and members of the Buscando Sonrisas Association will perform a concert for children with cancer at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital.
CaixaBank Volunteering
CaixaBank Volunteering is one of the largest volunteer initiatives in Spain, aiming to bring solidarity-based actions closer to society. With 20 years of experience, the association comprises employees and former employees of CaixaBank Group and the “la Caixa” Foundation, as well as friends, family, CaixaBank customers, and all those who wish to participate in charitable activities.
Over the past year, thanks to joint efforts with more than 2,500 social organisations and the involvement of over 20,000 volunteers, the CaixaBank Volunteering programme has supported over 433,000 vulnerable individuals across Spain through activities related to education, digitalisation, companionship, and environmental protection, among others.
Promoting corporate volunteering is a key initiative for CaixaBank. For the institution, this is a way to help address the challenges facing society, while also offering financial services and solutions for social organisations and individuals at risk of vulnerability.
