Innovation to fuel recovery: A "phygital" world, with Gonzalo Gortázar

In the first chapter of CaixaBank’s Masterclass series in collaboration with The Banker magazine, Gonzalo Gortázar, CaixaBank CEO, speaks about how continual investments in digital transformation has helped the bank to innovate during the Covid-19 pandemic and promote more rapid recovery.

The arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on the banking sector in terms of both employee work culture, where remote working has required rapid innovation and digitalisation of internal processes, as well as in terms of client habits, as the number of clients going digital is increasing at a much faster pace.

At CaixaBank, where over 7 million clients are already using the bank’s digital banking services, providing continuity during the Covid-19 pandemic was made possible thanks to decades of investment in innovation and technology, which allowed flexibility to react to the crisis quickly and continue to serve the needs of its customers and the wider society.
