CaixaBank has been a sponsoring partner of the Spanish Basketball Federation since 2013, with an established brand presence across the men’s and women’s national teams of all categories.
Both squads are shining examples of how talent and dedication can be harnessed to benefit the team.
The sides boast outstanding competitive drive and an impeccable image, while being resolute in attitude and united in their objectives; all of which are values with which CaixaBank particularly identifies.
WE BELIEVE IN EFFORT AND SURMOUNTING CHALLENGES
We are firm believers in hard work and overcoming challenges, fostering inclusive sport with no barriers to participation. At CaixaBank, we believe our expertise and experience in basketball sponsorship, combined with the outstanding talent of the teams, is a recipe for success, taking wheelchair basketball to the highest levels both in terms of sport and social awareness.
Recent honours for the men’s and women’s national teams include the silver medal won by the men’s team at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, and the gold medal triumph of the women’s team at the 2017 IWBF European Championships Division B. Both squads strive ceaselessly to excel and are set to be very strong contenders at forthcoming international tournaments.
As well as backing Spain’s national teams, CaixaBank also provides sponsorship to the wheelchair basketball Copa del Rey and Schools Championship.
Plaza 3x3 CaixaBank is an amateur and inclusive basketball championship that is open to all ages, played in teams of three in both men’s and women’s categories.
The Plaza 3x3 CaixaBank circuit was set up in 2012 and has since attracted more than 150,000 spectators and 32,000 players of all ages.
This is a roving circuit, with tournaments held in landmark city squares across the nation. Each year events are held in some 10 cities around Spain.
Plaza 3x3 CaixaBank is designed to foster the sporting and educational values that basketball represents, while also introducing players to the increasingly important 3-on-3 format, as evidenced by its inclusion in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Recent tournaments organised together with the FEB have involved 1,700 teams, 7,000 players of both genders and more than 40,000 spectators, with women accounting for 40% of players.
In line with the values conveyed by basketball, CaixaBank and the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) have partnered to create a community of volunteers to support official events organised by the FEB, such as the Plaza 3x3 CaixaBank circuit, the men’s Ñ Tour, the women’s’ F Tour, and other competitions in which both teams take part, including World Cups and European cups.
‘FEB Volunteers’ is an open community that anybody with a passion for basketball and volunteering can join.
FEB CaixaBank volunteers provide support to all sports events organised by the FEB. At some events, “la Caixa” Volunteers will also provide support to special groups.
Since it was set up to coincide with the 2014 Basketball World Cup in Spain, the community has grown unremittingly. There are currently more than 18,000 volunteers registered with the programme.
