CaixaBank participates in numerous alliances and initiatives, both at home and internationally, the aim of which is joint progress in questions of corporate responsibility and the exchange of good practices around the question.

  • United Nations Global Compact

CaixaBank supports the Global Compact and endeavors to spread its ten principles, based on human and labor rights, the environment and the fight against corruption.

Since 2012, CaixaBank holds the presidency of the Spanish Global Compact Network, extending its commitment to root and implement the principles among Spanish companies and institutions.

CaixaBank recently became a member of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Iniciative, a global alliance spearheaded by the United Nations (UN) in partnership with financial institutions to promote best environmental practice and sustainability in all areas of finance internationally.

  • The Equator Principles

It is one of the signatories of the Equator Principles and is committed to considering and managing social and environmental risks in assessing and financing project finance transactions of more than US $10 million and project-related corporate loans where the total aggregate loan amount is at least US $ 100 million.

  • Carbon Disclosure Project

CaixaBank is a signatory of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). The CDP is an independent not-for-profit organization working to drive greenhouse gas emissions reduction and sustainable water use by business and cities. As a signatory, and as a token of its commitment to respect and protect the environment, CaixaBank has committed to measure, disclose, manage and share environmental information.

  • Women’s Empowerment Principles

In 2013, CaixaBank joined the initiative of U.N. Women and the United Nations Global Compact: Women’s Empowerment Principles. On signing this, it assumed publicly the commitment to ensure that its policies advance gender equality.

VidaCaixa, the company devoted to commercializing life insurance policies and the management of pension plans, integrated into CaixaBank, and CaixaBank Asset Management, its asset management company, adhere to these principles of socially responsible investment and have taken them as a guide to all their investments.

CaixaBank is present in the corporate responsibility committees of the banking association CECA, which is a member of WSBI and ESBG. These entities represent retail banking in Spain, Europe and throughout the world and encourage them to develop a strong local reputation and a responsible attitude among them.
