Its pension plan manager, VidaCaixa (2009) and the group's asset manager, CaixaBank Asset Management (2016), are signatories to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI).
VidaCaixa is the only insurer in Spain with the highest sustainability rating. It scored A+ for its investment management, the highest rating awarded under the UNPRI.

In 2005, CaixaBank, the ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation and Fundación de la Esperanza created ”la Caixa” Volunteering Association in a bid to promote solidarity, cooperation, respect and commitment. At CaixaBank, our commitment to people extends also to environmental protection. We work to minimise our environmental impact and we fund projects that help make our planet a more sustainable place. We adhere to the main national and international strategies relating to responsible funding, such as the Equator Principles and the UN Principles for Responsible Investment.
CARBON NEUTRAL PLAN
CaixaBank produces an annual inventory of the emissions of greenhouse gases resulting from its corporate activities in order to calculate its carbon footprint and take actions aimed at gradually reducing it.
The target for 2018 is to be a carbon-neutral organisation by offsetting the estimated emissions of CaixaBank's branch network and central services.
In a society that is increasingly aware of the need to protect the environment in which we live and work, and as part of our policy for continuous improvement, CaixaBank has determined its actions to respect and protect the environment by implementing an environmental and energy management system in accordance with European regulation EMAS 1221/2009 and the ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards.
